Andy Thomas - Progrotech

ABOUT ANDY THOMAS

For much of my career, I have enjoyed helping people connect with technology, creativity, and learning.

My background spans specialist retail, music technology, product demonstration, training, live events, and customer engagement. While the roles have varied, the common thread has remained remarkably consistent: helping people feel confident, informed, and inspired.

Working with musicians, educators, performers, hobbyists, and technology users has taught me that great customer experiences begin with listening. Whether demonstrating a new product, supporting a customer, presenting to a group, or helping someone solve a technical challenge, I enjoy translating complex ideas into practical and accessible solutions.

Music technology has been a significant part of my professional journey, providing opportunities to combine technical knowledge with communication, performance, and education. Through demonstrations, workshops, events, and one-to-one conversations, I have developed a passion for making technology approachable and enjoyable.

I believe that learning happens everywhere — through conversations, shared experiences, curiosity, experimentation, and occasionally even through unexpected mistakes that lead to new discoveries.

Today, I remain motivated by opportunities to bring together people, technology, creativity, and lifelong learning. Whether in retail, education, live events, or emerging technologies, I continue to enjoy helping others explore new possibilities and achieve their goals.

Selling Synthesis by the Pound/Sound/Bank/Hour.  How can I help you?

I have created patches and banks for Arturia, Creamware, Emu/Ensoniq, Modal, PPG, Studiologic, Steinberg, Waldorf, Yamaha, and numerous companies and devices, some sadly gone.
work including modern styling of vintage models and vintage soundscapes on new brand new technology considered.
I also created a 32 patch Ensoniq VFX cartridge, working with Keith Emerson (RIP) which got released via Voice Crystal.

Over many years, I have worked in customer-facing roles where technical knowledge alone was never enough. Whether supporting musicians, demonstrating products, assisting customers in retail environments, or participating in live events, I learned that people rarely remember every specification or feature. What they remember is how an experience made them feel and whether someone genuinely helped them move forward.
